The Aaron J Shay Experience

The not-yet-famous writer and musician, internet denizen and musical taxonomist.

Ticket-purchasing link to follow! Can I just say that I find it somewhat hilarious that you can buy tickets to our show on the Internet? The Can Can always sets up a Brown Paper Tickets page for your event, which is just one of the awesome ways they treat their performers better than any other venue I’ve played.
A few days ago I was talking to a friend from my Michigan days, and I was telling him how musically prolific I have been lately. It struck me that, when he and I met about eight years ago, I wasn’t a musician. I didn’t play any instruments, or write songs. I didn’t think I ever would. Now I play three, I’m in one established band that gets to play amazing venues like The Can Can (and even gets invited back), and I’m starting a second. And writing solo material! Even a few years after that, when I had moved back to Seattle, I convinced myself I was satisfied with being the cool music journalist, even though I longed to be on stage at every show.
Around that same time, I got involved with hitRECord, and met Dan and Teafaerie. They taught me the concept of being your avatar: that secret person inside you that you wish you could be. Without really realizing it, I have come so much closer than I was then, closer than I ever thought I would.
Life’s not perfect, but it’s getting a little more awesome all the time.

My sister: One rad lady.
